During most of
the 2005 racing season, Ricky was in the process of building a new
home for him and his son, Brian.
As many of you know, building a home is very time consuming
and stressful. So in
order to give his undivided attention to his home building project,
he decided to limit his racing schedule.
His home was near completion in the fall of 2005, when Mr.
Steve Turner, of Turner Motorsports, Houston, Texas, contacted him
to drive his Southeast Series racecar at Nashville Fairgrounds
Speedway and Montgomery Speedway.
Engine problems at Nashville during practice made it
impossible to enter the race. But
at Montgomery he qualified 14th and finished the race 9th.
Ricky also raced in December at the Snowball Derby at Five
Flags Speedway, but was involved in a wreck on lap 43 and finished
in the 37th position.
Mr. Steve Turner
and Ricky again met, discussed, and decided to become a racing team
from Dawsonville, GA and use Ricky’s race shop as the home base.
The team's plans are to race the NASCAR Southeast Series,
some Super Late Model races, and begin preparations to run some
Hooters Pro Cup races later in the summer of 2006.
Ricky and his
team manager, Scott Bess, are busy working on the Hooters Pro Cup
racecar and would like to race at Myrtle Beach Speedway on June 24th
if they can get the car completed.
Ricky
is very excited about the opportunity that Mr. Steve Turner has
given him and is striving to do his best for Turner Motorsports,
William Brothers, and his fans.
